Three policies on one page: returns & warranty, terms of sale, and privacy. Questions about any of it? Send us a note or email hello@thetrainclock.com.
Returns & warranty
30-day returns, no questions asked
If the Train Clock isn't for you, tell us within 30 days of delivery and we'll take it back. Contact us with your order number (it's in your confirmation email); we'll send a prepaid US return label. Once the board arrives back, we refund the full purchase price to your original payment method — usually within 5 business days of receipt. The board doesn't need its original packaging, but it does need to come back in one piece.
One-year hardware warranty
For one year from delivery, if the board fails on its own — dead pixels, power faults, WiFi hardware, anything that isn't accident or misuse — we repair or replace it and cover shipping both ways.
Firmware, forever
Updates arrive automatically over WiFi and are free for the life of the product. If a firmware update we ship ever leaves your board unusable and the built-in rollback doesn't recover it, we fix or replace the board regardless of how old it is. That one's on us.
How to start a return or claim
Use the contact form (category "Shipping or returns") or email hello@thetrainclock.com with your order number.
Terms of sale
- Price. $149 USD per board. Any applicable sales tax is shown at checkout before you confirm payment.
- Payment. Handled by Stripe's hosted checkout. We never see or store your card number.
- Reservations. Reserving a board costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We email you a payment link when your batch is ready; you're free to pass, and you can ask off the list at any time.
- Shipping. Free standard shipping within the US. Boards ship in batches — the window quoted at checkout (typically about two weeks) is our honest estimate, not a guarantee. We email tracking when your board ships, and you can cancel for a full refund any time before then.
- The service. Arrival times come from the MTA's public real-time feeds by way of our cloud service, which is included with the board at no subscription. Feeds can hiccup and the internet can misbehave; the board is designed to degrade gracefully (it shows last-known data, marked stale) but we can't promise uninterrupted data.
- Warranty and returns. As described in returns & warranty above. Beyond that, the product is provided as-is to the maximum extent permitted by law, and our total liability is capped at what you paid us.
- Not affiliated with the MTA. MTA line bullets, station names, and data identify the data source only.
- Governing law. New York, USA.
Privacy
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to build, ship, and support the product, we run no ads and no analytics, and we never sell or share your data with anyone except the processors named below.
What we collect, and why
- Orders and reservations — your name, email, shipping address, and quantity, stored on AWS (US) and used only to fulfill your order and email you about it (confirmations, payment link, tracking).
- Payments — processed entirely by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe, never to us.
- Contact messages — the category, subject, email, and message you submit, kept so we can reply and keep context.
- The clock itself — sends our service its device identifier and the stops you configured, so we can answer with arrival times. That's the whole payload. No microphone, no camera, no location sensor exists on the device.
- This website — keeps your theme choice and demo-board station picks in your browser's local storage; they never leave your device. No analytics scripts, no ad trackers, no cookies for tracking. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which sees the request as a standard web fetch.
Your data, your call
Email hello@thetrainclock.com to ask what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Order records we're required to keep for tax purposes are kept for the legally required period, then deleted.
